Your old fur can save wildlife Give your old pelts new purpose: "Donate them for use in comforting orphaned and injured wildlife.The Humane Society of the United States accepts donations of old fur coats and sends them to wildlife rehabilitators, who use them as bedding and nesting materials.The fur is cut to size and put inside the animal's enclosure. It comforts the animal and reduces stress, serving almost as a surrogate mother. The society accepts all fur and fur-trimmed apparel, including shearling. Fur accessories such as hats, gloves, scarves and muffs are also accepted."
To donate a fur, pack it in a sturdy box or padded envelope and mail it to Fur-Free Century, The HSUS, 2100 L St. N.W., Washington, DC 20037. Donations are tax-deductible.
