A dog by any other name... Increasingly, people are being more choosey about their pets' names and with dogs, names like Bowser or Rover are in disfavor. The trend is seen as part of a steadily growing importance of the role that pets play in family life. Family dogs are seen more and more as bonafide family members.
According to a survey by Veterinary Pet Insurances, the most popular names for a male pet are Max, Buddy, Jake, Rocky, Bailey, Buster, Charlie, Bear, Sam, Lucky, Cody, Toby, Jack, Shadow, Duke, Rusty, Harley, Sammy, Oliver and Murphy. For a female pet, the names are Molly, Maggie, Daisy, Lucy, Sadie, Ginger, Chloe, Sophie, Bailey, Princess, Angel, Zoe, Sasha, Lady, Missy, Samantha, Abby, Brandy, Misty and Bella.
That reminds me of a joke I heard: Two dogs meet for the first time and one dog says to the other, "Hello, my name is 'Bad dog, Bad Baaad Dog.' What's your name?"
Hey, this My Pictures Tool is finally working for me, thanks to Lawrence Lee who suggested I shut down Radio, delete the old MyPictures.root and redownload it again and then restart radio. That's all it took!
Our dog has a really big head, so big that we haven't found a doggy cap to fit him yet. Drat, those Harley Davidson leather caps were so appealing and I'm sure he'll never fit in those itty bitty doggie hats marketed by the Osbournes...
Now, Lawrence, if you can only figure out why the Manila-Bridge blogging tool blew up! It worked perfectly in 8.07 but it is giving me a hissy fit in 8.08 I'm getting java errors and as Lawrence confirmed, he's getting them too. What's horrible is that it will post and post and post like the energizer bunny to my blogspot.com sites Dog News and DC dogs. I wonder if Lawrence is a real person: he's got more posts on Userland than you can shake a stick at ... in the thousands according to Google ...
Ticks overrun man's property New Jersey Ticks, the vectors for lyme disease and other serious diseases, are a real problem for one man and his dog. The man has "taken to putting the ticks he takes off his dog Skippy, a pit bull mix, into a coffee jar where the scores of black parasites crawl all over the jar's glass walls for days." In the DC area, ticks are a real problem in Rock Creek Park and Sligo Creek Park. Ticks are so small that they can escape from coffee jars, so it's not recommended to save them as souvenirs. One Petsmart groomer keeps a glass jar of ticks on display; I was so grossed out I never took my dog back for grooming....
The solution: The Tick Disbandonment System, touted in the June 7, Washington Post, offers to rid a house of ticks completely.
