(Our dog is so smart, he's a television critic (or should be); if he sees any news that shows people crying, he will jump up and whine until we change the channel. He seems to empathize most with the real emotions of people on the news. And yes, he definitely watches TV; when he sees an unusual animal, he'll sit up and watch intently.
