Strange gifts for people and pooches if you worship the ground your dog walks on, these gifts might interest you ...

If your dog has just received surgery and has decided to take her stitches out herself, why not give her a Bite Not collar, a more humane device than the post-surgery Elizabethan collar. We bought one, just in time to not need it anymore. By the time it arrived, 12 days after her surgery, her vet had already removed her staples. We purchased her collar from Omaha Vaccine for $22.75 Shipping is free during December 2003.

Other unnecessary purchases we made included:

  • A large wire crate, with both a side door and front door. Our dog goes bananas when we put her in it, so we just don't put her in it. (that was simple); well, we only did it on vet's orders. You can get just about any kind of crate from JB Wholesale Pet Supplies; we used their catalog to review all the types of crates. Their catalog has just about every dog product you can think of. A Walkabout  for the dog who needs a lift when she's walking (we never used it, because her staples got in the way.) We got it from JB Wholesale Pet Supplies, 1-800-788-5005.

We found many satisfactory indoor 'baby' gates at buy buy baby.  I especially like the AutoClose gate, which was only $62 (with tax). I also got a large temporary containment fence ($69) from babiesRus, (1-888-BABYRUS) to safely contain our dog at night; she doesn't mind it at all. It is very awkward to assemble and to open and close, however.

Google Lab's new service, Google Web Quotes, helps dog information hounds find relevant and reputable sites for their topic of interest. Example search: 'dog training' [via RSS in government via The Shifted Librarian] This cool service, which is not warrantied [after all, it's new and experimental], allows you to check on a site's reputation (based on what other sites say about it) so you can decide whether or not you want to rely on its information.
