It just dawned on me, not that this is a new thought, that our entire
health care system is not designed to make and keep people healthy but
to extract as much profit as possible from illness. Sure, you can have
tort reform, which is AMA and ATA battling it out for which of them
makes more profit out of the system, or set up HMO's or medicare or
medicaid or even universal health care - but until society truly
decides that decent health care is something that civilized societies
have, and not a market driven commodity, different policy approaches
are essentially meaningless.
