The vanishing technical writer. As the role of tech writers vanishes into information and web design, will their core strength, providing solid content, be enough to save them? [Usable Help]
Gordon points to a piece over at Cherryleaf, "The Death of the Technical Author," to ask the same questions many of us are asking, especially in the face of the possible offshoring of our work. And their answers are pretty much the same ones we're coming up with: be part of the software development process early, get in on usability testing, acquire new skills. In other words, be more than just a commodity writer--be a strategic contributor.
