Jamis at 37Signals discovers the Law of Unintended Consequences:
Law of Unintended Consequences. I was reading “Path of Daggers” by Robert Jordan tonight and came across a reference to the Law of Unintended Consequences. Googling for it turns up an entire host of references. . . [Signal vs. Noise]

IMHO, the best book on the subject is Edward Tenner's Why Things Bite Back. I picked it up when it was first published about eight years ago, and just devoured it. I found myself wishing there were several more volumes, because Tenner obviously had to pick and choose from many possible examples.

Fortunately, Tenner is the speaker at the DUX 2005 closing plenary, so I'll get to hear from him directly, and perhaps ask for a follow-up book.
