Guy Kawasaki has some useful thoughts on the value of behaving like a decent human being:

[ Bona tempora volvantur--by Guy Kawasaki] His interpretation of karma repeats the common misunderstanding that it's a point system, but the idea is right. Treat people right and it will come back to you. Maybe not from the same person, but that doesn't matter. Helping others helps yourself.
One of the old "how-we-work" guidelines that Dave Duffield promulgated as leader at PeopleSoft was: "Don't kiss up and slap down." I think Dave and Guy are speaking the same language.
