But before I go, I need to post Penelope's latest, 5 excellent tips on networking:

Today[base ']s careers are made and broken by one[base ']s ability to network.

. . . Networking is actually a lot easier than you think. There are five reasons why. Numbers 2 and 4 are below. Read all five at Yahoo Finance.  [Brazen Careerist by Penelope Trunk]

I'm not sure I'd agree that you can do all your networking from your blog, but it might work for you. My short take on successful netoworking is this: Networking is not about handing someone your business card and asking what they can do for you. It's about meeting folks who you don't know and finding a way to do something for them, even if they might never help you out. There's a lot of "do-unto-others" in successful networking.

Oh, there's plenty to blog about, but I'm headed off to IA Summit tomorrow, so don't look for anything here until sometime next week. And then I have to write my next (possibly last) column for ACM <interactions>, andget busy finishing and posting the Web site for the Stockton Sail Camp (not linking cuz it's not live yet). . . yeh, that's the story of my life since I promised myself to stop volunteering, ha!

Oh, and if you're at IA Summit too, I might be Twittering: wfreds is the handle.
