a travel log
From France to Scotland by sea.

Tuesday, September 10, 2002

Well, still in Kinsale. Right now I'm cooking some dinner (smoked salmon & pasta), and getting ready for an evening of cozy reading. Bought myself Franzen's "The Corrections" today, but first I'm finishing a biography of Tabarly, probably the most famous french sailor; a little strange to be reading this as I'm getting ready to cross to France... he fell off his boat about 80 miles from here, at night, doing the opposite crossing. He didn't believe in harnesses...

Outside a steady, strong south-easterly wind is blowing, the rain is pouring, and it is generally pretty dreary. Tomorrow's weather (S-SE 4-6, rough seas) is not good, so it's another day in Ireland for me. A couple of days ago I was starting to get frustrated, but at this point I'm over it, and settling into a little rythm. Perhaps more on that later. (Water's boiling, have to get cooking!)
