My friend the political consultant restates one of the key reasons the Democrats should run someone against Howard Coble: "Also, if a guy runs against Howard, and this is important, HOWARD CANNOT TAKE HIS WAR CHEST AND HELP OTHERS."

Coble has over $800,000 in the bank. He can use it to fund other candidates. Mounting a credible campaign against him would force him to spend some of that loot in the 6th. Thus the Dems would help other Dems across the country just by running, and help the local economy at the same time.

Run to win, but understand the long odds, and tally the side benefits of a run at the same time.

They say the three scariest words to hear on a ski slope are "Follow me, Dad."

I was able to keep up with Elijah and Sydney this week, although Elijah had to wait for me at the bottom of the bump-runs he kept insisting we do. Syd can ski black diamonds now, too. The day is rapidly approaching when Lisa and I ski only on sunny days (plenty of those this week) and meet the kids later in the hot tub.

Brad Carson has a campaign blog for his run for the Senate in Oklahoma.

I had hoped Erskine Bowles would be the first Senatorial candidate with a blog. At least he's upgraded his website.
