Can you believe that this building once stood in downtown Minneapolis. There are few pictures of it available on the web. I went and bought this one from the Hennepin History Museum.

A little disappointed at the Southdale YMCA for tempting my kids with cotton candy and soda pop yesterday. We walked in and Maggie instantly said, "I smell something tasty" Cotton candy looks like poison to me and the Y should be the one sanctuary from a world that is trying to stuff my children full of junk food.

We have been enjoying Six Feet Under even though I tried hard to dislike it from the getgo. I think the reason is good acting and good writing. Also enjoying the method of delivery, which is netflix. No late charges! Free trial available now! They have got to be putting blockbuster out of business.

Controversy erupted when a dance troupe was invited to perform at our church. A small group of conservative catholic activists launched a letter writing campaign, probably in reaction to this article, to convice the Archdiocese to cancel the event. The bishop orded it cancled after one evening. (Notice that the article says the pastor made the final decision.) My friend went to the performance. It was nothing controversial. Nothing that offended him, even though he is known to become offended when people are less than reverent towards the altar and eucharist. The matter comes down to a man performing without a shirt. That is sad. That a small group of sick people can trigger fear and reaction like this points to a sick organization. This sickness can be cured by taking control away from the bishops.
