Recent java lesson from Rehan on apache ant. Once again, something I was scared of turns out to be not so scary at all but incredibly useful. Ant compiles all the files in a directory that have changed, packages them up in a jar file and distributes the class files and jar file in appropriate directories. Of course it has lots of features that let you do pretty neat stuff. It is very easy to install and run. It has great documentation, is free and will save you tons of time. I am probably the last java programmer on the planet to start using it. Full story of how to install and use, mostly so I can remember how we did it.
