A co-worker just asked me if anyone in the DNR or the State of MN had "livelink" going. If there were some good blogs in Minnesota state government, I could have done a search and found it for him. As it is, we will have to dig. . . .

Aw gee.
Recognition for years of service to the DNR and State can and should continue, but without the purchase of recognition items. They are suspending the state government length of service award program! I guess they want remove any barrier to someone waking up one morning and deciding to quit their lousy job. As one co-worker put it, "I told my brother-in-law that we get a $50 watch. He gets a $3000 grandfather clock. Now I have to tell him that I don't even get the watch."
