It's The People
Common Sense for a New Century. Today we announce the publication of Governor Dean's "Common Sense for a New Century," laying out your campaign's values and calling for national action. The pamphlet is modeled after Thomas Paine's "Common Sense," published in 1776, that helped ignite an American movement for self-government.
Much as Paine's pamphlet was meant to spark discussion among colonists, we ask you to read Dean's pamphlet and sign it, then pass it along to a friend, family member or colleague—who will then sign and pass it along to another American. Once ten people have signed the pamphlet, the tenth person will send it back to the campaign.
Drawing from some of America's most influential historical figures, "Common Sense for a New Century" proposes that the very values that helped found our United States over 225 years ago are at stake in the 2004 election.
We have published 500,000 copies of "Common Sense" and shipped them to Meetup coordinators and other grassroots leaders. Those of you who attend tonight's Meetup—those of you who built this campaign from the ground up—will be the first to see it.
For those who cannot attend Meetup, or whose Meetup does not have a coordinator, "Common Sense for a New Century" is available online in four formats: [Blog for America]

City of Fredericton Goes Wireless. Fredericton, New Brunswick has become the first city in Canada to offer municipality-wide, free, unlimited Wi-Fi access. According to the city's official press release:
The first phase of the project has already been completed. This means that Wi-Fi technology is now available in much of the City's downtown and at the Fredericton Airport. By the end of the year the network will be expanded to include the Knowledge Park, Main Street and the balance of the downtown. In the future, coverage will include all of the City's business corridors and public spaces.
The City is teaming with Cisco Systems, the worldwide leader in networking for the Internet, to deliver Fred-eZone. Cisco is assisting in the roll out and development of the network, which is based on industry-leading Cisco wireless technology. The first phase of the project will cost $150,000 and is already part of the cityâ??s capital budget for this year. [Daily Relay]
