So let me get this straight. . .people are up in arms (THERE OUGHT TO BE A LAW!!) about the fact that the poor people are getting screwed in the current round of tax cuts, with the biggest injustice, getting all the press, being the fact that those poor people aren't getting the boost from $600 to $1000 for the child credit. . .first of all, the poor people are hardly getting screwed. . .they just aren't any better off. . .wah. . .ummm, that's hardly a sin. . .and secondly, the poor people pay the least taxes, both percentage-wise and total-wise but take advantage of the most services provided by the very taxes they don't pay much of. . .

I find it hard to believe that rational people think the people who pay the least and use the services the most should get the same or more of a tax cut than the people who pay more and use less. . .but amazingly enough, those people are out there. . .hell, some of them are even my best friends. . .

If a liberal judge retired from the Supreme Court and was replaced by a conservative one during the tenure of Bush, would the possible overtunrning of Roe v. Wade result in the outlawing in abortion? Juan Non-Volokh says no. . .

Hey while we're on fat kids how about this study stating that obese kids have a higher incidence of gum disease? This statement:
The researchers speculate that the younger participants in the study may have had worse eating habits than the older ones.

is amazing in it's ridiculosity. Captain Obvious strikes again, here to point out the mundane and the tedious to the unwashed masses. . .Umm gosh it probably has nothing to do with the fact that they eat a ton of cokes and snacks, all of which are bad for good gum health. . .what a big surprise. . .but of course, their moms don't know their kids are fat so the kids probably haven't been taught how to brush their teeth yet either. . .

Moms don't know when their kids are fat?. . .ok, ignoring the fact that the article doesn't classify what qualifies as fat, how do you look at your fat kid and not see that he's fat? I volunteered this weekend at the Pepsi KidAround here in Dallas. . .I was working the Bouncy Basketball House and I had to lift all these kids into this air filled house so they could jump around. . .I knew immediately when one was fat cuz I damn near threw my back out. . .and don't think there weren't more than one of those. . .

I just don't understand how, as a parent, you might miss the whole "Damn my kid is fat" thing. . .
