Kate cracks me up and I have to link to this post if for no other reason than because I'm linked to in amongst all the gratuitous linkage. . .but really, I just kind of like Kate. . .I have the feeling, if we were ever to meet say at a marathon in Hawaii or something, that we'd drink a couple of martinis and get in a big ass fight over social security or something. . .but I digress. . .you should go read her. . .anyone who has seven martinis and can crank out that kind of Weird Al Yankovic creativity, needs more visitors if for not other reason than to stoke her ego. . .

Watch out, some part of the church is up in arms again about a gay priest. . .this time it's by the Angelican Commission, "a global association of churches that trace their heritage to the Church of England, has 79 million members internationally". . .

I find it rather amusing to hear Christians constantly preach tolerance and then turn around and be so completely bigoted. . .Many of the protesters argue that this is a "threat to church unity". . .which is probably the most ridiculous argument they could come up with. . .but my favorite quote from the whole article is this:

The Sunday Telegraph reported that Archbishop Peter Akinola, the primate of Nigeria, home to 17.5 million Anglicans, had written to Archbishop Williams threatening to sever ties with any part of the church that elected a gay bishop.(emphasis mine)

Ummmmm someone tell me this is a typo. . .please. . .because if it isn't and there's a guy in Nigeria calling himself the primate of Nigeria, we need to get in touch with Jane Goodall, she's going to have a fucking field day with this one. . .

National Geographic Reporter (NGR): So you say you've found a primate who claims to be not only THE primate of Nigeria but also seems to have a problem with homosexual priests in England?!?

Jane Goodall (JG): Yes he has made a rather puerile attempt at writing, expressing some desire to sever ties with some church that's ordaining a gay priest. He's rather backwards as far as primates are concerned.

NGR: So do you think he might be a precursor to modern humans?

JG: No, he probably belongs to the baboon family. He seems to have some superiority complex, what with claiming himself THE primate of Nigeria. I really feel he's just trying to take over the alpha male spot at the top of the troop. But his attempts seem rather ineffectual, almost completely ignored.

NGR: Thanks, Jane. In other news, Dick Gephardt made an ass of himself today claiming that he'd overturn Supreme Court decisions with executive orders if they made bad decisions, but that's hardly news now is it. The Mule Association of America quickly distanced themselves from the Gephardt statement.

It's amazing that the Christian faith can continue to hold outwardly bigoted views on things like this (the gay priest, not Jane Goodall). . .It must really be nice to feel so superior. . .

More trouble for officials in France. . .though this isn't of a political nature. . .more Agatha Christie than anything else. . .
