Turn on pipelining and immediate rendering to make Chimera nice and fast on your Mac.

Create a file in ~/Library/Application Support/Chimera/Profiles/default/xxxxxx.slt where xxxx is a random string. Just go to the directory and you'll see what I mean.

Create a text file called "user.js" with the following contents:

user_pref("nglayout.initialpaint.delay", 0); user_pref("network.http.pipelining", true); user_pref("network.http.proxy.pipelining", true); user_pref("network.http.pipelining.maxrequests", 100);

save and close. restart Chimera and watch it go REALLY fast.

Fink 0.5.0a
The long-awaited Fink 0.5.0a for Mac OS X Jaguar is available. Don't be fooled; the "a" doesn't stand for alpha; it stands for, uh--just go download it. [Hack the Planet]

Whoohoo!

All the UNIX tools you can handle in one easy place.

Mind you - I don't think I need fink anymore. After grabbing vim, wget, ncftp, and w3m and compiling from source - there's really not much else I need.
