Dis-Arming AmericaEmory University has thanked Prof Bellesiles for his good service and sent him on his way after an investigation found him guilty of misrepresentation and falsification of data and engaging in unprofessional conduct regarding the research for his anti-gun historical treatise, Arming America: The Origins of a National Gun Culture.
Bellesiles misrepresented statistically significant portions of his data, reached conclusions the data didn't support, and then published a lengthy Disarming a populace is a silly premise on its face, since total, unilateral, unequivocal removal of arms from the planet is impossible. The best possible result is that honest, innocent people are left defenseless against the savage and corrupt. But many still insist on pursuing it. I wish it could be different. But it's not... Historian Michael Bellesiles, author of a controversial book on guns in early America, has resigned from his post at Emory University....
