Yesterday at IT Directors meeting, Brad Brown of ABC espoused the merits of dotNet.  ABC is converting all their applications from Delphi to dotNet and they couldn't say enough about it.  Personally, I was more interested that the Dept. of Health and DCED have moved heavily into the Linux environment.  A standards group will be posting a survey in order to update the enterprise standards document.  Obviously, we still lack consistent standards and some agencies are diverging from what others in the state are doing rather than converging.  Some still lack an understanding of service-oriented architecture while other are national leaders in terms of usine SOA to integrate with federal, local, and other state entities.  And we can still do a much better job of leveraging existing knowledge, data, and other resources to deliver new and innovative services.
