A new version of QuickTime is available, v6.1.1 from Apple which addresses streaming buffer problems. From Insanely Great Mac.com

A security vulnerability in the QuickTime Player (versions 5.x and 6.0) has been found, according iDefense, and Secunia. It is triggered by URLs longer than 400 characters. Reportedly 6.1 does not suffer from this vulnerability. According to Macintouch, it only affects QuickTime for Windows.
