More on the Subject of 8-bit Versus 16-bit: "This week, I wanted to expand on what I wrote a week ago regarding the benefits of 16-bit as compared to 8-bit editing. Here then are the answers to a few questions that have come up since last week...."

I see VRmag has an article on the new Karline rodeon pro VR head at http://vrm.vrway.com/vartist/VR_industry/KARLINE_RODEON_VR_HEAD.html

The features include:
Fully automatic 360 deg. panoramas -- for a perfect focus on creativity. With manual panheads, a lot of work was required to capture a full 360 deg. panorama. With the brand-new motorized KARLINE rodeon pro VR head, panning movements (horizontally and vertically) are controlled by the built-in electronics. It is very well suited for high-resolution multirows.

Some highlights: - The KARLINE rodeon pro VR head turns almost any high-end digital camera (e.g. the Canon EOS series, Nikon D series, Konica Minolta, Sigma etc.) into a panorama machine.
- The VR head has a built-in control unit and, turning in the nodal point, captures the chosen motif fast and precise, horizontally and vertically. The camera release is perfectly timed ñ done is the picture series.
- In no time but high quality, the panorama software, e.g. Realviz Stitcher (with automatic mode), knits your picture series into a 180∞ x 360∞ spherical panorama.

Purpose
VRlog provides news, developments and analysis of the virtual reality (VR) world from a nature photographer's perspective. Since I am not connected to or funded by any VR vendor, I intend to objectively appraise what's going on, and the direction VR is headed in. -- erik goetze
