New Blog on Copyrights Issues:

"New Blog "Dedicated to the Clarification of Copyright Law for Legislators and Citizens". Kevin Marks has a new blog dedicated to taking the copyright fight to the politicians..." [Blogcritics]

ProSUA, Kevin Mark's blog, has lots of tips on how to advocate for copyright issues that affect libraries.

Fundraising and web design:

"Charity redesigns Web site to boost donations. Executives of the non-profit hope that by adding more features to their Web site, they'll be able to boost online donation levels by five percent over the next two years. [New Haven Register]" [Welcome to NPOToday.com - Presented by Changing Our World, Inc.]

ALS & the Great Librarian Adventure:

CLS' sister system, the Alliance Library System, is in the news for its new Great Librarian Adventure program that aims to change the stereotype of librarianship and recruit new librarians to the profession.   The original mention is in Peoria's Journal Star.   It has also gotten this mention "Young librarians push for a makeover" [LISNews.com]

Cartoon Database:

"Universal Launches Searchable Database. Universal Press Syndicate launched a Web site that enables newsletter editors, book publishers, the general public, and others to search for comics and editorial cartoons." [Editor & Publisher - Daily Headlines]

This cartoon database allows one to search and buy syndicated cartoons to enliven your content and presentations.  What's really nice is that if the featured toon is for a presentation they ask whether you are a for-profit or not- for-profit institution and price the toon accordingly.

Protecting a wireless network:

If you have a wireless network or are considering getting one, this article entitled "War Walking:Detecting Wireless Networks" from PocketPC Magazine will help you detect if your wireless network is vulnerable to an attack from hackers.  It also includes some tips on how to make it more secure.  Thanks, Lori, for the link.

Also, you may want to visit the official Warchalking site.  Warchalking is the symbolic language used to let people know that wireless access is available for use.  Thanks, Jenny, for the link.
