Phonecam photos aspire to art: "You may be proud of the photos that you have snapped with your funky camera phone, but it is a fair bet that Henry Reichhold has you beat. [...] The London-based photo-digital artist is using Nokia 7600 and 7610 camera phones to create huge panoramic images of events and places." [via Pinseri]

A Finnish photographer took a picture of a goldeneye (a medium sized diving duck) hanged by a squirrel. The death was caused by the squirrel making a home in the nest of the goldeneye and storing thread from a woollen shirt in the nest. The thread went around the neck of the goldeneye, and when it tried to fly, it was hanged.

Net Addiction Gets Finnish Soldiers Out Of Army: "Reuters is reporting that the Finnish Defense Forces have allowed some men to be excused from military service because of 'Internet Addiction.' The service period is 6 months - but that's too long away from the internet for these guys." [Slashdot:]

I served 11 months in the Finnish army 17 years ago. The army is today probably a lot different (and I can't help thinking that is it easier today), but of course it is a shock to get used to rise before 6 AM and to sleep in the same room with a dozen other conscripts. So it is not a suprise that some conscripts are sent home for a few years to grow a bit before returning to finish the military service.
