Olympic brand-whoring attains new, shameful low: "The Interational Olympic Committee -- whose high-horse is well and truly elevated when it comes to lecturing atheletes about doping -- is policing spectators at the games to ensure that they aren't toting brand-marks for their sponsors' rivals. Penalties for buying the wrong product range from confiscation of your goods to being forced to wear your t-shirt logo-side-in." [via Boing Boing]

[Item Permalink] Should you hire a hacker, or a professional? -- Comment()
I posted earlier a comment on Great Hacker != Great Hire: "It‘s okay to be in awe of these great hackers. But as a practical matter, small ISVs would be much better off hiring professionals." Contrast this with the Python Paradox: "I didn't mean by this that Java programmers are dumb. I meant that Python programmers are smart. [...] Which makes them exactly the kind of programmers companies should want to hire." So, should you hire a (smart) hacker, of a professional? (I don't have an answer.)
