This morning I received for review an iMac G5 from Apple. I transferred my music, photos, applications, and other documents from my iBook to the iMac G5 using the Setup Assistant appication. The transfer took about 45 minutes over the Firewire cable - about 20 GB of data.

The 20" display is corgeous. Photos and DVDs look great. A slight suprise was the sound quality - of course the iMac is no substitute to real stereos, but it sounds pretty good anyway.

A nice thing about the Setup Assistant is that all the applications work straight away - the license information is transferred at the same time. And all the network settings (including WLAN, Mail, web etc. passwords) worked without any fine-tuning after the transfer.
