The Sports Economist: "I must confess an addiction to nightly coverage of men riding bikes for five hours. [...] I'm strapped in my easy chair receiving my nightly fixes of "the Peleton" skimming over the French countryside." [Teal Sunglasses]

[Item Permalink] Bicycling 1500 kilometers in 14 weeks -- Comment()
I bought a hybrid bike and started to commute by bike in April. I have ridden about 1500 kilometers in 14 weeks. Last week I bought a cycle computer which revealed that my trip to work is actually 12.8 kilometers, not 11 as I had estimated from the map.

On my four-week vacation I rode the bike for 1...1.5 hours almost daily. I did some cross-country riding I the woods also, and my hands developed some problems. I had to buy a set of gloves to help.

I'm still not I a great shape, but nevertheless my ride to work had gone down to less than 30 minutes. Originally the trip took almost 45 minutes. Perhaps I'm able to get another 1500 kilometers during this year.

I like biking. And the only problem with the new bike has been the pedals, which the bike shop has replaced already twide. The cheap Wellgo pedals don't seem to last very long.
