Hugh's presence & For Sale: Lunar Real Estate Our resident Groove doyen, Hugh Pyle has a thought-provoking idea about 'presence in RSS'. Lately, I have been sipping bits of SIP. Albeit they are differing application domains, similarities do exist. SIP was modeled after HTTP and SIP proxy servers are similar HTTP proxies but SIP adds in capabilities for location services (analagous to 'presence'). SIP does use the notion of MESSAGE that utilizes SUBSCRIBE and NOTIFY. The latter maps to the polling by the client RSS node. I'll have to think more about this... On an unrelated topic - they are selling pieces of the lunar body at $29.99 per acre. Legal and Serious ! Buyers include two former US Presidents, NASA employees and over 2m people world-wide. How I love the free enterpise. 8:29:53 AM ![]() |
