The Journey to the Center of the Edge (3) - 'E-C-E' or 'C-E-C'? Continuing on from my posting yesterday, I am beginning to rethink the 'C-E-C' phenomena. Why 'C-E-C'? Why not 'Edge-Center-Edge'? It is well understood that in corporate-type organizations, the IS/IT departments would prefer 'C-E-C' whereas the end-user (the business users) would prefer 'E-C-E'. The latter makes more sense and it will be more efficient in terms of "distributing knowledge". This relegates the role of the IS/IT departments to that of traffic cops in the collaboration process - see Chad Dickerson's Decentralization Battle. 'C-E-C' worked till the Berlin Wall came down about 12 years ago. I reaffirm that 'E-C-E' will work and I can substantiate it with a solution that was written well over 200 years ago - the U.S. Constitution and if it has worked for 50 States (the 'E') with over 250m people for over 200 years that paradigm will work here. So, having a federated system to manage 'E-C-E' will work. 10:19:46 AM ![]() |
