Howard Coble on the Air

Missed on putting out the promos for Michael Badnarik being on the Liberty Hour this afternoon.  But, won't fail here again:

Congressman Howard Coble has agreed to appear on the Liberty Hour with Marty Elkes on May 16th 2-3pm.  (That's WMFR AM 1230 - Hight Point).  Will Marty toss Howard softballs on CAFTA and the FTAA?  Tune in and find out.

We do have dozens of letter's from Congressman Coble's office stating that he plans to vote against CAFTA.  He's an anti-TPL guy. (Trade Preference Levels - those are the social welfare schemes in NAFTA that really socked it to NC/SC textile mills)

Michael Badnarik does NC

Shame on me for not promoting better.  Our 2004 Libertarian Presidential Candidate Michael Badnarik did a breakfast show in Reidsville this morning with I swear I'm not making this up Neely Chronicle publisher Richard Moore.  You can catch the audio or video tape here.

After speaking at the John Locke Foundation for lunch in Raleigh Michael Badnarik also called in for our Liberty Hour radio show in High Point today.  I wasn't able to stay on the line with him, but from his end of the conversation concerning the Patriot Act, it sure sounded interesting.

Deals like CAFTA
Help us in long rum

News and Record
Greensboro
5-1-05 (Sunday's opinion section - not posted on-line)

by Giles Lambertson

"...Mutually beneficial regional agreements strengthen an entire region and that
is the ultimate hedge against another threat to America -- political unrest
and incipient terrorism. CAFTA is one piece in an Americas strategy of
hemispheric stability through economic growth.

The transition from pre-CAFTA to post-CAFTA will not be painless, however.
Wholesale workplace changes never are. Here's hoping our elected
representatives can see beyond the pain to the progress."

(I thought the best politicians were supposed to feel our pain? )

We look forward to the N&R running an anti-CAFTA opinion now.  We should have it submitted by tomorrow.
