Blogspeed for BlogAnswerMan - Google Top 10 in 72 hours

How long do you estimate it will it take to get a top 10 Google ranking for BlogAnswerMan?

I am happy to report that the BlogAnswerMan blog entered Google's top 10 in LESS THAN 72-HOURS after I announced it in several of my other blogs! The targeted terms are: include: b-blog, "blog consultant", blog consultant, "business blog", business blog, and business-blog.

Anne Holland of Marketing Sherpa wrote: "As I've mentioned before, Blogs are a great way to get high rankings quickly if you copywrite them using search terms. Normal sites can take up to 30 days or more to get noticed, but for reasons I don't understand (but no doubt many of you do) Blogs tend to get picked up more quickly and more easily."

I first noticed the top 10 positions in my overnight report on Friday. The results improved over the weekend with a bonus of top 10 positions on MSN by Sunday...I wasn't aware that they were following blogs so closely!

Is there a new term in the making: blogspeed? How about blogoptimization?

Here are a few of the stats:

Sunday (2/2) Selected Search Positions for BlogAnswerMan.com

Google: b-blog (5), "blog consultant" (9), blog consultant (10), "business blog" (5), business blog (7), business-blog (5)

MSN - "blog business" (1), blog business (8), blog-business (1), "blog consultant" (9), blog consultant (9), "business blog" (4), business blog (7), business-blog (4)

BlogAnswerMan on ContentBlog

Marketing Sherpa's Anne Holland just posted a BlogAnswerMan piece on her ContentBlog. Thanks Anne.

Anne post starts out: "Clever new content-> commerce site out from online marketing consultant John Lawlor. BlogAnswerMan is created in Blog format with each entry answering a visitor's question about how they can market their business with a Blog."  <more>

This blogging thing is quite wonderful - information reproduces at "blogspeed" when it catches the blogger.

I sent Anne a note mid-day that mentioned how my low-key launch of BlogAnswerMan achieved top 10 positions on Google on several of my targeted keywords within 72-hours of announcing BlogAnswerMan on several of my blogs (see  end of post for list). A few hours later , voila, Anne posts a BlogAnswerMan mini-article! Did I mention blogspeed?

Dr. Pepper Tries Blog-roots Campaign
Dr. Pepper Tries Blog-roots Campaign.

Newsweek: Marketing: Flogging on a Blog

Marketers at Dr Pepper see the movement as the perfect launch point for a “grass roots” campaign for a new “milk-based product with an attitude,” Raging Cow. The first step is an in-house blog (ragingcow.com); it tells the fictional backstory of the drink, which rolls out in April in flavors like Chocolate Insanity and Pina Colada Chaos.

Next comes a blog-related twist on viral marketing—recruiting “key influence bloggers” to promote Raging Cow by sharing their enthusiasm, linking to the site and distributing special screensavers, banners and skins. Beginning with an initial group of six people in their late teens and early 20s—flown to Dallas with their parents for an induction session—Dr Pepper hopes to develop a “blogging network” to hype Raging Cow and “be part of the ‘in the know’ crowd.'

Yawn! Aging in-house marketing teams should be banned from trying to be hip. This is a clueless campaign for so many reasons. Worse, it is generations behind the latest thinking in buzz marketing. [MarketingFix]

It will be interesting to see what buzz this Dr. Pepper "campaign" generates over the next few days.

Search Engine Inbreeding

Search Engine Inbreeding

The search engine landscape has been changing at lightning speed this year. As I sat writing a case study on the launch of BlogAnswerMan.com, I realized that I needed to get up to date information in order to see "who’s on first," so to speak.

WebMasterWorld.com has what looks like a current (updated 2003-02-24) landscape of the search engine relationships as they impact today’s search results. <more>

It looks like the best way to get an overview of how your blogs are ranking with the least overlap is to evaluate Google (powered by Google), MSN (results from LookSmart and Inktomi) and AllTheWeb (results from Fast).
