Ceramic Secret Compartments After noting yesteday how a ring pillow could be stuffed with different items and how that might effect its specialness, or meaning, we can take a look at another sort of example of this...ceramics with secret compartments. Nancy Walker's sculpture includes one piece (at least) with a hidden compartment . The Musical Mosque also has such a compartment. Don Francois Roban's sculpture with hidden lids. Dayle Doroshow's books, boxes, and sculptures have hidden places for messages. Cute animals with a hidden treasure areamay not be ceramic, but certainly could be...they also include a trading card. Ceramic dolls heads have been used by smugglers.
Beyond the notion of concealment, how would knowing there is a certain item within these pieces change the piece's meaning? |
