A Korean Buddhist Prayer Container, Analysis

Mok-A Park Chan Soo's wooden prayer container could hold buddhist manuscripts. Let's take a quick look at Buddhist manuscripts.

Buddhism has long used manuscripts. Indeed, the Dunhuang Buddhist Center in China, includes the worlds oldest printed book, The Diamond Sutra which dates back to 868 CE.

Korean buddhism relies on manuscripts as well. The Tripitaka Koreana was printed from some 80,000 wood blocks, and dates back to the 1200's. (hmm..looks like you can sneak a peak at an electonic version here Thanks, Google.)

Now, documents have to go some where.

Just placing them on shelves is one idea.

Another way is to put them in boxes of various shapes.
