Art using Navigational Elements Well, trying to find similar pieces to the one mentioned yesterday is leaving me no where. Fine art that points to a geographical location (one that provides conceptual meaning) does not seem to be an easy find on the Internet. Sure there are folks that believe in preserving the art of navigation (celestial...) ...and Morris Graves did Instruments for a New Navigation...but were they pointing toward a physical location? Autopoiesis is an art piece that uses computers to understand where people are in a room. So in some way it points to something geographic (you!), but not in the sense I think I am looking for. Nor do simple direction signs. It is kinda similar to what happens with sundials in that the artwork has a specific orientation.
I know there is stuff out there. The idea of art and navigation/direction is just too big. |
