Direction Noted The Mizrach Plaque is used by Jews to remind them of the direction of Jerusalem. It is place on the wall in the proper direction so that one knows which way to face when praying.
The mihrab is a hollow space in the wall that faces mecca (qibla.) In this way, Muslims can be sure to be facing mecca when they pray. While not a stand alone sign, the mihrab does function as a sculptural architectural element. |
