Point Well Taken ...and many of them are figurative. The gesture of pointing, pointing to further meaning, is most easily communicated through human or easily anthropomorphic forms. Pointing to signify direction can be done any number of ways, pointing to allude to a meaning is done through that which gives things meaning...humans. (This is not to say animals and things can't give meaning to other things...maybe they can...who knows for sure what they would mean?)
Instead of a figure, I chose a boat, a vessel. I rely on the strong vessel metaphor of travel, seeking, pursuit, to convey the notion of pointing. |
