Astronomical Surface Decoration - Japan, part I We'll start looking at Japanese ceramics and how they may use astronomical references when decorating their ceramic work. My theory was/is that we should find quite a few pieces in the past because of the importance of astronomy to the culture and the ubiquity of ceramics in the culture. However, I have not been too successful with my research last week into similar decorations on Chinese ceramics I'm still waiting to see if I get any response to my questions on Chinese ceramics from sci.archaeology.moderated, ClayArt, and rec.antiques 11:03:42 PM
