(Sort of) Astronomical Surface Decorations (related to) Ceramics, Japan part II Isamu Noguchi A number of the dishes have the shape and features of a human face, with one Bizen ware displaying a geometric nose, eyes, and lips very much like those of the artist's 1947 earthwork project Sculpture to Be Seen from Mars. (Noguchi used this as a decoration of sorts to) inform extraterrestrials that -- before the nuclear destruction of the human race-- a civilized life form once had existed on the planet. While not a decoration of celestial bodies on ceramics...It is a decoration on Earth (clay/dirt) for celestial bodies. ...and it is on some plates... Of course this has been compared photos of the area Cydonia Mensa which looks like a face on Mars itself. 10:46:14 PM |
