Legislature: Venture Capitol Enhancement Act
Private Equity Week reports that two new developments in Utah will have venture capital dollars flowing freely. Former Salt Lake Olympic Committee Chief Operating Officer Fraser Bullock has founded a private investment firm headquartered in Sandy. And a bill has been introduced in the legislature advocating that the state provide "contingent tax credits" which could cost the state $20 million annually.  These tax credits would cover losses for potential venture capitalists. A similar program operates in Oklahoma and Ohio.

Supreme Court Denies Appeal on Abortion Counseling Law
The US Supreme Court upheld an Indiana law that mandates in-person counseling prior to receiving an abortion. The law is similar to the one in Utah which is credited with reducing abortions in the state by 10%.  Lawyers for the plaintiff argued, however that this was because women went to other states to obtain their abortions.
