Tommy Can You Hear Me? I was greatly saddened to hear that Pete Townshend was arrested on suspicion of making and possessing indecent images of children and of incitement to distribute indecent images of children. I have always been a great fan of his music and hope that the charges are unfounded. Given the premise of his rock opera Tommy, I don't doubt that he was abused as a child. I just hate to think that he hasn't broken the chain. I can't think of anything worse than abusing children. People like that should be stuffed into mailbags and dragged behind cars doing 60 over a gravel road as far as I'm concerned. I just can't fathom that it was necessary to download this detestible porn in order to "research" the issue. That sounds too much like the Winona Ryder defense to me. PromoGuy's Monday Mission 3.2 1. Have you ever bought something you were so excited about and found out later that it didn't work? Were you able to return it? How did it go? I’ve had a whole bunch of things like that. I can’t really single out one thing that comes to mind. Generally, unless it’s some kind of small ticket item, I insist on getting my money back. 2. I have a Palm (Pilot) for my date book and such, but have been thinking of jumping to the PocketPC world at some point. Do you have a PDA (personal digital assistant)? What kind, and how did you decide? What do you like about it? If you don't own one, do you want one or do you do better without such gadgets? I have a Palm m130 which recently replaced my Palm IIIxe which I gave to my wife. Basically, I selected it because it does everything that I need it to do. It keeps my appointments, contacts, and to do list. I never considered a PocketPC. It just seemed to be overkill. First of all, the cost was higher. Secondly, my Palm does everything the PocketPC does as far as I need it for work. In terms of what the PocketPC can do that my Palm can’t, it still is a poor substitute for my laptop (which is a PC but I can’t wait to get my hands on one of those new Apple PowerBooks). I am keeping my eye on the Tablet PC, however. 3. What illness do you wind up catching more than any other? Every single variant of the cold and/or flu that my son brings home from school. 4. Do you like going to see the Doctor (any type)? I’m the type that always likes to tough it out without going to the doctor. My wife literally had to drag me to the doctor two summers ago. It turned out I had viral meningitis and I missed a month of work. I also tried to come back to work too soon. 5. How about the Dentist? Do you like going? Do you go in every 6 months for a check-up? Are you nuts? Who on God’s earth likes to go to the dentist? Nevertheless, I usually go every six months. Lately, I’ve been lax. I guess I’m tired of them telling me I’m not flossing. 6. Are you a "Dog Person" or a "Cat Person?" Do you think a person's choice tells you something about their personality? Definitely a dog person. I’d love to have a big, slobbering Labrador retriever or Golden Retriever. I think cat people are warped. Dog people rule! 7. I've mentioned before how me and a buddy of mine have just let our friendship lapse. There was no disagreement, but we've hit that point where we have nothing in common anymore. My life has progressed and he is still living in 1992. Have you ever had a friendship that just seems to have run its course? Where there is just nothing there anymore? What finally happened? Oh yeah! The trouble was I kept trying to make it work. In the end the guy ended up screwing me over. I should have realized that for years I was his friend but he was never my friend. Anyway, my revenge is that he married a real emasculating bitch. Not that he had any balls to begin with. BONUS: Do you want to see me beggin' baby? Can't you give me just one more day?
