Dinner with the Queen This evening, at the National Press Club, I had the opportunity to have dinner with Queen Noor of Jordan to hear her discuss her book, her life, and the future of Jordan. It was wonderful!
A gifted speaker, a talented writer, her book Leap of Faith, was available to be autographed and I picked up a copy out of habit. I'm such an infovore. She had a lot to say about the world we live in, and surprisingly, more of it was optimistic than I had expected! She isn't convinced we've ruined our reputation in the Middle East, which I found to be quite surprising, giving the level of condemnation coming from the Arab Press. She was also optimistic regarding the possibilities for Democracies in the Middle East, but that we have to first solve the Palestinian/Israeli crisis. I think she may be onto something, but I have a feeling until we have people that can talk to each other, and have power over their people, I think we're up a creek. |
Post Blog Deconstructionism Robert is on his way to a new product, Epistulae (love the name by the way, Robert), that may well change how we view blogging.

Happy Birthday Erik! Today is my brother Erik's birthday, and he's out somewhere on behalf of our nation serving his country aboard USS Louisiana. Everyone take a few seconds, think a happy thought, smile just a bit, say "Happy Birthday Erik" and then leave a comment below. You may not know my brother, you may not know me, but do a fella a favor, and wish him happy birthday in the comments and we'll see if we can't get it to him somehow.
Me, I'm just facing toward the Atlantic Ocean and shouting Happy Birthday every once in a while. |
