George W. Bush named Negroponte to the new post of Director of National Intelligence. "During the Reagan years, when he was ambassador to Honduras, Negroponte was involved in what was arguably an illegal covert quid pro quo connected to the Iran/contra scandal, and he refused to acknowledge significant human rights abuses committed by the pro-US military in Honduras. But each time Negroponte's appointment came before the Senate, he won easy confirmation. Now that he's been tapped to lead the effort to reorganize and reform an intelligence community that screwed up 9/11 and the WMD-in-Iraq assignment, Negroponte will likely sail through the confirmation process once again."

Seen or heard any democrats lately? They have probably moved to their Bahama condos. Do they still care about Americans? I haven't heard very much about their opposition to the Bush plans.
"Unjust, unfair and un-American. That's how the Children's Defense Fund (CDF) describes President George W. Bush's $2.57 trillion budget.
It provides the wealthiest Americans with more money, while cutting programs that provide critical services for our most vulnerable children."

Republicans, on the contrary, are very loud and outspoken at present. What do they have to lose? They own the country.
AmericanThinker[sic]: "We conservatives need to get up off our fainting couches too, and realize that Ward Churchill is right.
Let us speak truth to ourselves. The United States is a global empire that is taking over the world, and most conservatives are in favor of it.
Let us speak truth to ourselves.  Our double-entry bookkeeping, our self-government, our rule of law, and our limited-liability companies are more than mere wonders of the world. They are more than innocent inventions; they are the terrifying force multipliers that made us into world conquerors and world benefactors."
So they now openly admit their criminal activities and totalitarian intentions. The mob rules the world. But they still see themselves as 'benefactors', that is not how the world sees them; they are benefactors for themselves.
By the way, seen an honest republican lately? Don't despair, they are slowly admitting their sins and seeing the truth. Not that they repent, though.
CounterPunch: "The attack on the U.S. by al-Qaeda was a result of U.S. imperialism and interventionism in the Middle East. And interventionism is the cause not the result of terrorism.
Another rhetorical fussilade from Ward Churchill?
No, that was Churchill nemesis Joe Scaraborough's frequent guest host Pat Buchanan speaking on Meet the Press a week after the media feeding frenzy over Churchill's essay."

Have you ever heard Bush talk about delivering to the nations of the world the freedom of want? Right, he only has the total freedom for the neocon in mind.
And these are the things you have to believe to be a republican today.
