Jim's Pond - Exploring the Universe of Ideas
"Beware when the great God lets loose a thinker on this planet. Then all things are at risk. It is as when a conflagration has broken out in a great city, and no man knows what is safe, or where it will end." --Ralph Waldo Emerson

Family

A good deal of my formative years were spent trying to avoid my family. Not my extended family. My Grandparents, Uncles and Aunts were always cool. In fact, some of my cooler Uncles spent their formative years trying to avoid me. Poetic justice?

But we all mature. Yes, even me. So these days I enjoy getting together with family. Tonight we had a big portion of the clan over for treats and games. A couple of years ago I finally got my slate pool table. It's been fun. And the most enjoyable aspect of having it is getting together with family and friends.

The only problem this evening was that there were so many of us. We divided into teams and had a tournament. It worked out. Mainly because there was good food and card games on the main level. My Dad commented that the only thing that would be better is if I got a second pool table. That would require the displacement of a couple of couches and an overt takeover of the basement by me. The wife probably wouldn't go for it..........
