Jim's Pond - Exploring the Universe of Ideas
"Beware when the great God lets loose a thinker on this planet. Then all things are at risk. It is as when a conflagration has broken out in a great city, and no man knows what is safe, or where it will end." --Ralph Waldo Emerson

Kick Back Weekend

Yes, not much going on here. Yesterday I was able to get in two rides. One on my mountain bike and the other on the road machine. The muscles were sreaming at me last night and this morning they were still unhappy.

I love late fall days. The sun shines without causing that blast-furnace effect. Most of the leaves have been removed. Some by me. Many by the frequent winds we've experienced in the neighborhood during the past week.

The boys like this time of year. My Norwegian Elkhound has been coming out of him summer funk. He was made for climates that don't get much above 70 degrees in the summer and range way down into the single digits most of the year. He likes to sit on snow banks in the moonlight and can do this for hours. When the temp is up above 90 he all he really wants to do is lay on the cold tile floor near the AC vent.

With Temps in the 50s the boys really show their personalities. Bomsa, the Elkhound, was playing on the floor this afternoon. He got into a pile of dirty laundry and was growling and throwing clothes all over the place. With cooler weather we all seem to have a bit more energy. Rain, wind and clouds aren't keeping us inside, either. Now is the time for longer walks up on the hill. There isn't any worry about running into rattle snakes, we might see a few deer and there will definitely be fewer humans.

And it's nice to spend time away from work. Sometimes I envy those who have jobs that can be left at the office door. Mine follows me home and everywhere else. So, every once in a while, I like to have a day with nothing to do, no goals to accomplish, no purpose other than to enjoy the breath of life.........
