UEN Wiki
This week the UEN NOC started a Wiki (pronounced wee-kee as I recently discovered.) I have an account and today I've been playing with it and trying to learn. It's cool.
I noticed a problem when getting my login. There was a question about what office I work in. The options were London, Tokyo, Paris, other. I chose other and thought it was too bad this part wasn't set up better. Later I got into my page and by going into edit mode I was able to change this field to anything I could imagine. It didn't matter that the standard options were limited. I had also neglected to enter text in an optional comment field and customize that field while in edit mode.
I poked around, took about 15 minutes in a Wiki tutorial and learned how to start new pages with Wiki words. I found Pete's first test entry without much trouble. On that first pass I added my own test entry. Later I went back and modified Pete's test text. Good thing there is a rev tracker, allowing users to go back and follow all changes.
Wiki is flexible and fun. It reminded me of the first time I sat down to a Wordperfect screen. The ability to create is only limited by imagination. A bit intimidating. Somewhat frustrating. In time I can learn the value of Wiki and how to use it productively........
