Friday, of course
"It's the fans that need spring training. You gotta get 'em interested. Wake 'em up and let 'em know that their season is coming, the good times are gonna roll."
-- Harry Carey
Harry Carey was a long-time Cubs announcer and he also sang a mean rendition of "Take me out to the ballpark". I've been in Arizona for a couple of days and attended a spring training ballgame last night. My first ever.
I love baseball for so many reasons that are too numerous to mention in a manageable space. Just seeing spring training, the drills, work and atmosphere, has caused a renewed interest in the game. So I wanted to find something about spring training to add to my Friday quote. In parting, here's one more from Mr. Carey:
"This has been the remarkable thing about the fans in Chicago, they keep drawing an average of a million-three a year, and, when the season's over and they've won their usual seventy-one games, you feel that those fans deserve a medal."
-- Harry Carey
One last thought: We couldn't attend a Cubs game. The last two days were completely sold out. You gotta love those Cub fans.......
