MMM
We are still waiting to find out what is going on with Champ. The blood tests won't be back for another week or so. Frustrating. Kay says blood tests never come back on time. We can't be sure until then.
The situation does seem more hopeful, even without definitive proof. Our vet thinks, based on all outward symptoms, that Champ has masticatory muscle myositis, also known as MMM. The one confusing anomaly is that Champ doesn't seem to have any pain or trouble opening his mouth. Everything else points to this disease.
The good news is that this isn't life threatening. There is a reasonable treatment with no affect on life expectancy or quality of life. The vet says that in 10 years this is only the second time he's seen MMM. Just our luck.
Well, that makes me feel so much better. Of course, that's only one of a number of stresses weighing on me right now. Bob is still in Kuwait and will soon be bound for Iraq. My workload and responsibilities are ever expanding. My daughter and her husband moved in two weeks ago and will be camping out in our basement until they are able to find a home in Utah County. And, in a recent development, my married-to-a-marine daughter, Donna, living in Twenty-Nine Palms, is feeling the need to move closer to her mom. So it looks like we will be welcoming another camper to our home.
Well, at least Champ is going to be around to keep me company for a while...........
