The results of Champ's blood test were returned on Thursday. It turns out that the cure for his disease is to put him on massive doses of steroids. I'm considering changing his name to Bonds McGuire. And I'm wondering just how many homers he can hit next year, you know, if he's still around. Maybe his nickname could be "the BIG DOG".

I'm seeing the humor in this situation because we still haven't put this thing behind us. The odds are with us. The Vet says that 70% of the time there are good results. I don't know why 3 out of 10 dogs die from complications associated with MMM. We'll just have to wait and see. The Vet also tells me that we won't like the side-effects of the steroids.

Massive appetite. Lot's of drinking. Midnight runs to the backyard for elimination purposes. This sounds like the current status quo for Champ. He's a big boy who has always been a big eater. After a month we will get back with the doc and see if Champ's muscles are developing, or at least if we have stopped the deterioration. Until then, oh wait, I think Champ is ready for his next nature call..........
