Hello & Goodbye
Got into town at 8:30 AM Tuesday morning after a lovely stay in
Cincinati. It's amazing just how efficient the airlines can be when
everything is running according to plan. Very impressive.
Monday night every little step was a struggle. Tuesday morning was
simply a dream. No big lines at the counter. Quickly moved through
security. The plane was waiting for us at the gate. Smooth loading. A
real pleasure and a stark contrast.
Later on Tuesday Kay and I headed for Cedar City. We were on our way to
pick up Donna, our married-to-a-Marine daughter, and Jesse, the cutest
Grand Boy in the world, in Las Vegas. The theory was that Jesse
wouldn't do very well in a car seat from Farmington to Vegas, so by
flying we would make it easier on the little guy. But it was just a
theory.
Starting at about 7:00 PM Donna started calling to inform us that Jesse
was sick. By midnight, Jesse was at the emergency room, along with our
youngest daughter. Kay went to sleep and I continued to take calls. At
regular intervals Donna called to give progress reports. At about 5:00
AM she determined that Jesse needed to see his regular doctor and the
trip was off. At about 6:30 Jesse's temperature was back to normal, so
the trip was back on. And at 7:15 Wednesday morning Jesse blew chunks
in the car, covering everyone and effectively, difinitively, canceled
the trip.
So, instead of a trip to Twentynine Palms by way of Las Vegas, we were
on the road back to Farmington and a return to the sick ones. I'm ready
to spend some static time sitting still.........
