Cool Camera

I saw this Panasonic camera in a recent magazine (OUTSIDE, I think, but can't remember.)

I really want this one and probably will get it in a month or so. The reviews a good, experts and novices alike. The only knocks are with "noise" in high asa settings and poor supporting software. These aren't huge problems.

On the positive side, this is a true wide angle camera using a 16:9 CCD chip. It also has a big, quality lens (Leica), has full manual controls, can be used in the fully automatic, point-and-shoot mode.

I can't put my hands on one in the state of Utah. Believe me, I've tried. I talked to a manager in the Inkley's Bountiful store. She hadn't heard of the LX1 and tried to steer me towards a Nikon. I didn't bite.

I did see, and get my hands on, an LX1 at the Fry's in Las Vegas. It's a bit spendy, and with the Christmas crunch I don't have six bills to drop on a not-totally-essential pre-holiday, self-endulgent purchase. That will have to wait until next month. So, check out this camera. If you are in the market for a high end, small form factor picture taking machine, this just may fit the bill...........
